Hello to everyone!
I think most got the holiday off, but not all got a three day weekend, such as hospital workers, medical staff, police and firemen, just to name a few. One extra day off is nice to have. Labor day began in the late 1800s at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the U.S. The average American worked seven 12 hours days in order to earn a living. In some states, children as young as five or six worked in mills, factories and mines across the country, earning a fraction of their adult counterparts. Many faced extremely unsafe working conditions. Labor unions appeared in the late 18th century to protest poor conditions and force employers to renegotiate hours and pay. On Sept. 5, 1882, 10,000 workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square in New York City, holding the first Labor Day parade in U.S. history. A “workingman’s holiday.”
Tiny Seaton, Hollin Head, Brenda Seaton and Sue Williams had a recent visit with Melba Seaton, Billy Joe Seaton and Bandit. Brenda took Bandit a new toy, and he enjoyed checking it out. I know they enjoyed their visit.
Happy birthday to Chase Priddy, 9-6; Cora Prater, Tom Nichols and Samantha Burton, 9-7; Judy Bray, 9-9; Austin Morris, 9-10; and Brad Matheney, 9-11.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Chelsey Baker, Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Ruth Reddin, Logan Rencher, Dwain Seaton, Jr., Randy Sells, Dalton Seratt, David Tucker, Tony Tucker and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
YOU are strong; YOU are special; YOU are awesome; YOU are tough; YOU are loved; YOU are not alone; YOU are supported; YOU are worth it; YOU are amazing; YOU are brave; YOU are courageous; YOU are a fighter.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
