Hello to all from this little corner of the world.
The sun was shining Saturday, and the skies were blue with the temperature at 55 degrees. I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday and remembered to give thanks for the blessings of another day, for family and friends in your lives, for a roof over your head, for food to eat and for a bed to sleep in. The BIG day is now in the past, but our thankfulness should carry on into every day of the year. We are all on a constant journey, and there will be many crooks and turns along the way. Life is not easy to say the least, and it can change on a dime, so tell those you love everyday how you feel for tomorrow may not come.
We gathered at my sister Kathy’s home for Thanksgiving. She had everything going as we arrived. We took corn casserole, sweet potato casserole, rolls and chess pie. I also bought her a beautiful birthday cake from Cash Savers. It was EXACTLY what I wanted for my sister. It was decorated with light pink and a picture of two little girls (us). Kudos to the bakery! Others attending were Jeremy and Misti Ellis and family, Kathy’s boys and her oldest son’s family, and Patsy and Don Jones. Others brought macaroni and cheese, ham, deviled eggs, relish tray and pumpkin pie. My sister had turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, broccoli casserole, creamed potatoes, chocolate pie, coconut cake and pecan pie. She was unaware of her surprise cake. She also made homemade boiled custard! I will say that I did not eat anything after that meal. I knew better. We enjoyed a wonderful time together. She has continued on after battling cancer and losing her husband in 2009. I admire her continuing to keep going under all that has been on her journey. We are continuing on after losing our youngest son in 1997. The sadness is always there, but with time, God gives us reasons to press onward and find joy in and through Him.
James and I will be celebrating our 50th anniversary from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Friendship Baptist Church fellowship hall. Our actual wedding day anniversary is Dec. 6. It is unbelievable that 50 years have flown by. We have been blessed and have had two boys and two grandchildren – a girl and boy – and a great-granddaughter. Yes, there have been struggles, but we have seen them all through together. I just believe we were meant to be. God knew what we would endure over the years and always knew what we needed.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Happy birthday to Doris McKinney, 11-27; Natalie Wray, 11-28; and Tessa Hinson, 12-2.
Happy anniversary to Ann and Ray Pusser, 11-26.

“Despite what you believe, you can disappoint people and still be good enough. You can make mistakes and still be capable and talented. You can let people down and still be worthwhile and deserving of love. Everyone has disappointed someone they care about. Everyone messes up, lets people down, and makes mistakes. Not because we’re inadequate or fundamentally inept, but because we’re imperfect and fundamentally human. Expecting anything different is setting yourself up for failure.” – Daniell Koepke.
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
