Hello to all from this little corner of the world. It was cloudy with a light breeze noted on Sunday, and the temperature was 56 degrees. The forecast calls for the highs to be mostly in the low 70s and nights from mid 40s to low 50s.
I guess we have all come to the conclusion fall is actually here. Now, how long will this beautiful season last? Last year, I think it came through and left a shadow, and then winter began. We have a few cardinals, wrens and black hat chickadees. Some leaves are changing to red and yellow at this time. I am not looking forward to bare trees, but each season serves its purpose as life does.
Thanks to all who bought pork chop dinners. The food was very good, and there was a LOT of work that went into the project to benefit the Friendship Community Club.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Also, pray for Israel and the innocent people that will be persecuted. God be with them!
The sermon Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church was on Your Purpose (Nehemiah 1:1-4). What is your purpose in life? We all have gifts, talents and abilities. You are very important in this life, and your vocation or avocation does not describe you. What truly concerns you most in life? Not everyone will share in your concern. Stop waiting on others to share your concern or waiting on others to do something about it. God will use you to fix the concern. You are qualified to fix by God. You are special, and God’s calling you. You’re bigger in God’s eyes than you are in yours. What catches your heart? Eternal aspect or temporary concern, but God puts something eternal in you. One thing that lasts into eternity is PEOPLE. Our goal should be to influence people for their eternity. Stay focused on Him and not distractions. Never underestimate the power of ONE person. Nehemiah 6:3 – I am doing a great work and cannot come down -when he was rebuilding the wall in Jerusalem. Esther 4:14 – one voice saved an entire nation.
The sermon is available on Facebook via Friendship Baptist Church. I hope you will take advantage of this blessing. Charles Wray sang our special Sunday morning, “The Anchor Holds.” There are many sick and elderly who cannot make it to church and the online option is a blessing. I have enjoyed it at times myself. We invite you to visit anytime and our hope is that you will go away feeling closer to God after leaving. God bless.
Marla and Kendyl Davidson, Brooklyn Walls and Rachel Ellington visited Mr. and Mrs. Greg Utley in Scottsborough, Ala., last week.
Happy birthday to Ally Morris, 10-16; Diann Young, 10-18; Kase King and Kathy Dyer, 10-20; and Laiken Saige, 10-21.
Happy anniversary to Katelyn and Jordan Phelps, 10-15.
Jacks Creek is having its yearly stew on Oct. 28 to benefit the fire department. The stew will be ready at 10 a.m. It will be $22 a gallon, and you will need your own container. You may also pre-order by calling Joy McKinnon at 608-2828. This will be yummy when the cold winter sets in.
