Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The skies were a beautiful blue with white clouds on Sunday. Most of our trees around the house have lost their leaves. This next week is supposed to be a nice week with highs mostly in the 70s dropping into the 60s by the end of the week. Lows drop into the 40s by Thursday, Nov. 9. Most days will be 60 and above through Nov. 19. We are now into Daylight Savings Time, and I read a news article where Tennessee is not going back with another bill to change to standard time, so I guess we are stuck with it. Enjoy each day regardless. Life is a precious gift!
We enjoyed another sermon Sunday morning at Friendship-Baptist Church. The sermon was based on Mark 8:34-36. Jesus never tries to bribe us with an easy life. Jesus would never ask us to do something he would not do himself. Taking up your cross is voluntary, Jesus calls us. We hear people say I have a cross to bear, but it is really a burden. Burdens are not a cross as we did not volunteer for it. Interesting right? Taking a cross for Jesus is choosing, as when a missionary goes wherever they are led. We are led to help others, acts of love we do for Jesus. We need to reach out to others who are in need. We may do these things for a long time and seem to think you are not accomplishing anything, but it does. Jesus carried His cross to the END.
I sang a special Sunday morning American Christian in remembrance for Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11. Friendship Baptist Church’s sermons are available on Facebook. I hope you will take advantage of this blessing. There are many sick and elderly who can not make it to church, and having the sermons available online is a blessing for them. I have enjoyed it at times myself. We invite you to visit anytime, and our hope is that you will go away feeling closer to God after leaving. God bless.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
