Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The sky was light blue with some whitish-gray clouds noted on Sunday. There was a slight breeze, and it was 80 degrees at the time of this writing. Our birds are becoming fewer, but we continue to have a few cardinals, wrens and yellow finches. We have not had many finches this summer. I sure hope that is a fluke. We continue to have hummers, and James continues to feed the little ones in preparation for their journey. They must journey in order to let others enjoy what we have all summer. We have seen three deer, two of which were fawns. Our flowers are waning, and I am, too. I am so ready for fall colors and decorations of some sort. Just a few things can perk you up. I and others are excited with this weather we are having. Enjoy it while we can, as we all know rain and colder weather is ahead.
We enjoyed a visit from our son Jeremy and great-granddaughter during the week, and on Saturday, Braelyn, Laiken and Braelyn’s guy came to visit. They stayed a good while; it was great to be with them all.
Laiken was full of herself. She is such a joy and so smart. She has a large vocabulary to not be three yet. She will be three next month. I visit and play. Pots a.k.a. James is her playmate. “Pots, play with me; Pots, let’s play hide and seek; let’s play play dough.” Very busy! Days like those give us more purpose to keep pushing and stay focused on the joys of life.
Last Sunday at Friendship Baptist, the sermon was on contentment. Have you ever wondered what true contentment is? I have, yet I know. Now, I do not think any human is content 100% of the time, but many can have it a lot of the time. (2 Corinthians 9:8 and Phillipians 4: 11-13) Content people have a thankful heart. Be content on arising, fully satisfied God sees you. God is not the source of fear and doubt. He wants us to be content, hear it, believe it, live it. Content people use their spiritual gifts. Unless you’re chasing God, you will never be satisfied with anything. (Matthew 5:6. Proverbs 27:20) Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes are never satisfied. Be content with what you are, not where you are. It is not who you are but who you are in Christ.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.

“The Better You Know God, the Better You Feel” by Helen Steiner Rice – “The better you know God, the better you feel/For to learn and discover and know God is real/Can wholly, completely and miraculously change/reshape and remake and then rearrange/Your mixed-up, miserable and unhappy life/‘Adrift on the sea of sin-sickened strife’/But once you know Christ the ‘Man of goodwill.’/Will calm your life and say ‘Peace, be still’/So open your ‘heart’s door’ and let Christ come in/And He’ll give you new life and free you from sin/And there is no joy that can ever compare/With the joy of knowing you’re in God’s care.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
