This week’s spotlight sport is the Chester County Golf Team. The girl’s team is coached by Ginger McPherson. The boy’s team is coached by Colby Brown. In regards to the season, Coach McPherson had this to say about her team: “There are no seniors on the team so junior Maggie Huckaby has had to step up. She has medaled once. She is playing well, and I look forward to watching her future.” On the boy’s side, Coach Brown said this: “The boy’s season is going good so far. There are no seniors, but we have had success in juniors Colton Owen and Austin Ketchum. We have also had good performances from McKinley Hopkins in only his second year.” The Golf Team’s home matches are at Chickasaw. The teams played in Bolivar last week against Scotts Hill and South Side. McKinley Hopkins shot a 41, and Maggie Huckaby shot a 43. These were their lowest scores of the season so far. Austin Ketchum bagged a hole in one in his match against Bolivar and Adamsville. With both the boy’s and girl’s teams having no seniors and being both very young teams, they should be in good hands for years to come. With more matches and time to come, there will be many more great things to be said about the CC Golf Team in the coming weeks.
As for high school, teachers are still working hard with the students they have in the classroom, as well as providing aid for students that may have been quarantined and are having to stay home. The administrators and nurses are also working hard to ensure that being in school is as safe, productive, and efficient as possible. I want to give a huge thank you to our school nurse, Mrs. Kim Barnes, who works long hours everyday, making sure that our 900 plus students and 100 plus staff are cared for on a daily basis.
Thank you, Henderson and Chester County, for your continued support of CCHS.
God Bless and Go Eagles!
