East Chester celebrated Red Ribbon Week. Our students were encouraged to be happy and be brave without drugs. Mrs. Missy decorated around the school with red ribbons, and the students decorated inside the school with original artwork relating to this year’s theme, “Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free!” Winners of the coloring contest were awarded in every classroom. A special thank you to Deputy Nathan Daniel who provided VIP judges from our community. Also, Deputy Daniel provided a choice of Pizza Party or Ice-Cream Party for our two Grand Prize Artists.
Kindergarten worked on the letters B, L, R and U and practiced making words with the letters we have learned so far. We studied pumpkins for science and worked on the number 6 and 2D shapes for math.
First graders at East Chester are having a great time learning! They learned more and more about the human body! They explored the moon! They worked to become fluent in addition and subtraction! First graders are becoming more independent in reading and writing! It is a great time to be a first grade student at East Chester Elementary!
Second grade learned about early Chinese culture. We are going to celebrate the Chinese New Year during our Fall Fun Day celebrations. In math we worked on mentally adding and subtracting 10 or 100 to a given number 100-900. In social studies we recognized that the U.S. has a constitution, which is the basis for our nation’s laws.
