Our school family was glad to get back to work and welcomed our 504 students with refreshed smiles after an enjoyable and rejuvenating Spring Break. We hope everyone had safe travels and survived the roaring storms. Spring pictures were sent home Monday, and the deadline to order for them is April 13. Up and down the halls, there have been many signs of Spring with Easter Bunnies and writing activities. Every morning teachers and staff were welcomed with a special treat from Mrs. Renee and Dr. Kim. Sandy Thompson started last Monday morning off with some varieties of homemade bread. Also, we would like to say a special, “Thank you,” to Tanya Morris for sharing her delicious cookies with us. We appreciate all that you do for our students and school community. We are so blessed.
Kindergarten learned and wrote about oviparous animals. They are anxiously awaiting for some eggs to hatch. In math they worked on subtraction facts. In reading they worked on words with blends and digraphs.
Fantastic First Graders enjoyed learning about the great state of Tennessee. They explored Tennessee history, geography and maps along with major cities in the state and state symbols. In math they learned about telling time with analog and digital clocks. They worked so hard in reading to become more fluent in their reading and writing. Look out, second grade, they are headed that way.
Sensational Second Graders started their study on immigration and life cycles while continuing to increase their fluency with chapter books from the library. We appreciate Mrs. Melinda Carroll and Ms. Melodie for helping us achieve our reading goals and for always taking the time to read about current events with new arrivals to our library.
Terrific Third Graders are preparing to join the Middle School soon. They studied the human body and skeletal system and worked with irregular singular and plural nouns to improve their writing skills.
Second and third graders are not far away from taking the TCAP test. There will be a lot of exciting activities going on as we finish the school year.
Our condolences go to the third grade teacher, Amy Maness, in the loss of her grandfather. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family.
We miss you, Mrs. Denise, as you recover at home. We will be glad when you are back with us.
Just a good reminder…yes, ball season has started for some of our students. School is not over…yet! The teachers would like your support in continuing to get your child adequate sleep and a good breakfast each morning in preparing for the TCAP test beginning on April 21-29 at the end of this month. It is especially important to arrive at school on time. We will send out a more detailed schedule on the testing next week. We hope everyone had a great Good Friday!
