It is a great time to be at East Chester Elementary School! We have so many exciting things going on at our school!
In kindergarten, the kids studied about Native Americans and Pilgrims. These kinders will end their Thanksgiving unit with a feast and a play. All parents and grandparents are welcome to attend the play! Look on your child’s weekly newsletter for date and time.
First graders experimented with water in the form of solids, liquids and gases in conjunction with the story, “Earth’s Water.” Some classes even made butter! They learned about precipitation and condensation. They measured with standard and non-standard units of measurement along with comparing numbers with the symbols <, > and =.
Second graders learned about Animal Life Cycles. Students will write about animal life cycles and their importance to animal survival. At the end of the unit, they will create a poster using their information about two different species they will read about in this unit. Santa Suit opinion writing went home this week. Students will create a new outfit for Santa and explain why Santa should choose their outfit. In math the students learned about place value and how it helps to add and subtract to solve problems.
Third graders learned about animals with their CKLA curriculum. The students read about animal taxonomy and adaptations. In math, students worked on solving problems involving multiplication and division. The students in the math enrichment group worked on designing a “dream treehouse” and finding the area and perimeter of each item in their tree house.
Great things are taking place at East Chester Elementary School!
