We are having a wonderful week of learning here at East Chester Elementary School! Our second and third graders have been working hard on their CASE assessments, and we are so very proud of their efforts!
This Friday is the last Friday in March for us (we will be out of school for Spring Break next Friday), which means we will be working on our monthly habit from the 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey. This month’s habit is Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw. We will learn ways to take care of ourselves and maintain balance for physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. What an important habit for all of us to use!
We are still following Humphrey as he follows the students in room 26 at Longfellow Elementary School. Humphrey has been visiting the students at home on the weekends. We are learning so much about each one of the students in his class. Humphrey, a hamster, is the main character in our One School….One Book program. We are all wondering what Humphrey will be up to next!
Kindergarteners are working hard! This week the students are showing all that they learned during this third nine week period in reading and math. Students are continuing with their unit on products from farms.
Students in first grade are learning so much! Students are continuing to read about America as a new nation and gaining independence from England. In math the students are learning about measurement.
Our second graders are growing more and more each day! This week the students are finishing up their unit on change makers by reading “Let the Children March” and “Ruth Ann Ginsburg.” In math the students are beginning their unit on shapes.
Third graders are really coming along! Students are continuing their unit on the human body systems. This week, the students are reading about the muscular system. In math the students are learning how to find the perimeter of shapes.
Just a reminder that Spring Break is next week, and students will return to school on Tuesday, March 29.
As always, it is a great day to learn at East Chester Elementary School!
