Wow! We at East Chester can not believe that May is already here! This school year has just flown by so quickly! This week has been a busy one here at school. On Monday, we began our Around the World Tour. We will be touring every Monday and Wednesday in May. We are traveling around the world to explore different places. First grade teachers are coming to third grade classrooms to tell the students about Mexico, Spain, Egypt, Australia, Canada and Chile. Second grade teachers are visiting first grade classrooms to tell about Ireland, Belize, Greece, Peru, Canada and Japan. Third grade teachers are traveling to tell second graders about England, Brazil, Italy, New Orleans, China and France. The students enjoy our travels and learn so much!
Throughout the month of May, each grade level plans themed days. We participate in these special themed days on the days that we do not have our World Tour. This week, the kindergarteners are preparing for Mother’s Day with Mother’s Day activities. First graders are enjoying Bubble Gum Day and Ice Cream Day this week. Our second graders are winding down this school year with Birthday Party day, Scientist Day, May the Fourth Be With You Day (on May 4), Cinco de Mayo (on May 5) and Space Day. Third graders are having a good time with Art Day, Scientist Day, Movie with Popcorn Day and Virtual Field Trip Day. If you see an East Chester student, ask them about their favorite theme day so far!
We have lots and lots of important events coming up here at East Chester Elementary School. Our Fun Run will be on Friday, May 6. Parents are allowed to come watch this event. We ask that parents sign in at the fence before entering the track area. We will be having a PTO Meeting on May 10 in the cafeteria. We will be having Awards Day and a Parent Breakfast to honor our third graders the morning of May 20. The last full day of school is May 20. Students do not come to school on May 23. Report cards will be passed out on May 24.
As always, it is a great day to be at East Chester Elementary School!
