In kindergarten they are learning about letters V and Z as well as reviewing all the letters they have previously learned. In math they are going to review numbers zero-five, sorting and position words. They will continue to practice decomposing five. In science and social studies, they will continue their unit about fall and focus on apples! They will be learning how to write a sentence as well.
In first grade they are still learning about Gran’s adventurous trips! They have read about her trips to the Swiss Alps, to Hong Kong and to the Gulf Coast! In math they are continuing to work on different strategies used to subtract within 20. During their read-aloud time, they will be finishing up “Different Lands, Similar Stories” and move on to “Early World Civilization.” They will begin working on persuasive writing as they finish up opinion writing this week.
In second grade they are starting a new book called “Bedtime Tales.” They are reviewing long vowel spellings as well as r-controlled vowels. In math they will finish up place value and start skip counting. During their read-aloud time, they will read about Davy Crockett and Slue Foot Sue. They will continue to learn more about landforms. Way to go, second grade!
In third grade, they are reading “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Part 2.” In math they will be reviewing how to use sums to add and how to use regrouping and estimating to add. Keep working on those multiplication facts!
