News from East Chester Elementary School

In kindergarten students are still working on being successful identifying the main idea of a passage and key details to support it! In math they are working on subtraction and will be starting a unit on missing addends. In science they are learning about life cycles and will be learning how to take care of the Earth. In writing they are working on writing narrative stories! Way to go! Keep working hard.
In first grade the students are taking their last iReady diagnostic test this week! They will be reviewing reading and math skills this week! In knowledge they are learning about Frontier Explorers. They have discussed the purchase of the Louisiana Territory, met Lewis and Clark and will be talking about Sacagawea this week. 
Second and third graders are taking their TCAP test this week! They will be working on that every day. We definitely wish them the BEST of luck! 
There are several important things happening at East this week as we prepare for the end of the school year. Here are some important dates to remember:
April 27 – Open house for incoming Kindergarten students
May 1 and 2 – Brigance testing for incoming Kindergarten students
May 4 – Kindergarten registration no. two from noon-5 p.m.
May 11 – Kindergarten Awards at 6:30 p.m. at William’s Auditorium
May 12 – Fun Run
