It was another awesome week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School!
Kindergarten had a great week! We worked on letter recognition, color words, sight words, rhyming words, counting, numbers and number words and shape recognition.
Please remember to check your child’s folder daily for homework and important information being sent home. Thanks for all you do to help ensure your child’s academic success.
First graders continued working hard settling in and adjusting to rules and procedures. Also, the students enjoyed learning about fables in reading. They learned that fables are short, teach us a lesson and sometimes have personification (when animals behave like humans).
In math, the boys and girls added and subtracted up to 10.
Second graders learned about the continent of Asia during reading. We learned about the ancient civilization of the Indus River Valley. We also learned about the other continents and the world in social studies. In math we practiced mental strategies for addition and subtraction. Even though we do not get to take library books home, we enjoy them during any spare moments at school.
In third grade we began our nonfiction reading unit on Animal Classification. Science has replaced social studies for the next few weeks to go along with our learning about animals. This will be a fun topic as we learn about text features, animal habitats, how to classify animals and much more. In math, we worked on multiplication. This will progress gradually so that everyone can master the facts. We are diving deeper into our third grade standards and expect great accomplishments! Keep up the great work everyone!
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Brianna Kneller, whose favorite book is Daniel Tiger, and her favorite food is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school!
Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Robin Salvador. Her favorite book is Little Women, and her favorite food is Chinese food. We appreciate all that she does for our school as one of our internetionists.

The JCES PSO Officers for the 2020-2021 school year are Heather Verduzco, President; Sarah Clayton, Vice-President; Brooke Simon, Reporter; and Candace Shumate, Treasurer. They are already planning and preparing information to share out with our JCES families.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, our year looks a bit different. However, we want you all to have an opportunity to be a part of our JCES Parent Support Organization. Our annual PSO Membership Drive begins Tuesday, Sept. 8. Our goal is to raise $1,500 with 500 members! When we reach our goal, students will have a “Dress Like A Farmer” Day!
Canned Food Drive: Help others in our community by donating canned food items Sept. 21-25. Students can bring these items in their backpack.
