We had a great week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School! Read on to hear about the amazing things we did while we were briefly in school this week!
Kindergarten had a great week back. Students worked hard on important skills, including sight words, sentence writing, reading words with blends and digraphs, counting to 100 by ones, 10s and fives, identifying coins and their values and subtracting fluently. We are looking forward to lots of learning and fun this last nine weeks of the school year. Cap and gown and spring pictures are available to preview online at www.white-designs.com/spring until April 19. Pictures can be purchased online or through the order form being sent home. If you know of someone who has a child that will be attending kindergarten next school year, registration packets can be picked up at the Board of Education office now until April 14. Parents should return the registration packet and bring any required documents to the school that their child is zoned to attend between the hours of 3:30-6 p.m. on April 15 or between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 16 for registration.
In second grade we worked to get settled after all the breaks. We learned about fractions and began our math topic on fractions. In reading we focused on text features in informational reading and grammar skills. We are getting close to TCAP time, and we really need to be trying our best to be ready for it.
In third grade we continued our immigration unit. Students will learn about Angel Island and the immigrants that arrived there. In math we wrapped up our perimeter unit. We start our measurement unit this week. We are preparing for TN-Ready (TCAP).
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Brice Thomas who says his favorite books are books about trucks and his favorite food is pizza. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Melissa Gray. Her favorite book is the Bible, and her favorite food is all the food! We appreciate all that she does as one of our third grade teachers!
Box Tops for Education: Box Tops are a super easy way to earn money for our school. Clip Box Tops or download the Box Tops for Education app. Scan your receipts to earn free money for our school! It is that easy!
Pictures will be available online to preview and purchase now-April 19 at www.white-designs.com/spring. Previews will ONLY be ONLINE. Order forms will be sent home with students. Orders can be placed online or sent to school.
Looking Ahead:
Apr. 12-May 6 TCAP Assessment (second-third grade)

The students photographed above participated in the Spring Family Reading Event at Jacks Creek Elementary. Students in kindergarten through first grade competed to read most books and in the second and third grade category students competed to read most pages . Top student in each classroom (K-first – read most books; second-third – read most pages)
