We had a great week of school, and our third graders are knocking this TCAP out of the park at Jacks Creek Elementary School!
Kindergarten had another great week! Students continued to work hard these last few weeks of the school year. A few skills we worked on included reading words with double consonants, sight words, counting to 100 by ones, 10s and fives, subtracting fluently and identifying coins. Our Awards Day for Kindergarten will be at 8:30 p.m. Monday May 24. Please return the form that was sent home. We look forward to seeing parents/guardians on this special day.
We had a great week! In reading we read Hansel and Gretel. In reading skills we worked on punctuation on all sentence types and read various stories about camping with Kate and Nan in our reader. In writing we worked on an opinion writing. In math we finished learning to count coins and continued to work on math fact fluency.
In second grade we worked hard to show what we have learned this school year. We took TCAP tests and are taking the iReady tests this week. After that, we will start working to get ready for third grade by being reintroduced to multiplication and a few other math skills that we will master next year.
Our third graders have worked so hard, and we are so proud of them! We completed the ELA TCAP tests last week and will take the math and science TCAP tests on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 27-29. Please help the kids do their best by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, are here on time and eat a good breakfast each morning (provided here at school). We will be working on novel studies in language arts for the next few weeks and are excited to begin with Charlotte’s Web come Monday. In math we will be digging into word problems and reviewing operations.
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Briella Stanfield, who says her favorite books are Disney Princesses books and her favorite food is mashed potatoes. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Mary Lowe. Her favorite books are “The Old Lady Who Swallowed…” series, and her favorite food is soup! We appreciate all that she does as our Speech teacher!
