Jacks Creek Elementary School had a great week as we are winding down the school year!
Kindergarten had a fantastic week! Students practiced and prepared for our Award’s Day program on May 24. A few skills we worked on this week included sentence writing and reading, sight words, counting to 100 and subtracting fluently. Students enjoyed seeing the seniors during the senior walk through. It is hard to believe that this is our last full week of school. Students last day is Wednesday, May 26, and report card pick up is from 10-10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28.
First graders worked hard on their animal research papers. They chose their animal. Then, they used a graphic organizer to organize the information about their animal. They focused on their animal’s appearance, habitat and diet. Then, they had fun listing some fun facts about their animal. The final step will be to write the information about their animal into a first draft.
In second grade we worked diligently to finish up end of the year testing. We have worked hard all year and are ready for third grade. We reviewed reading and math skills with centers. We also worked hard to prepare for Awards Day. We look forward to seeing you there!
This week is an exciting week for our third graders. We went to tour Chester County Middle School and are excited to be there next year! We want to thank all the staff at CCMS for making us feel welcomed. We went on our Mystery Field Trip. This is a fun, last memory for students. On Thursday, we will have field day! Lots of fun times and memories as they enjoy their last days at JCES.
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Bellamy Carter, who says her favorite book is the Bible and her favorite food is apples. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Valerie Jones. Her favorite book is “Kisses from Kate,” and her favorite foods are tacos and pasta! We appreciate all that she does as our Speech teacher!
Box Tops for Education: Box Tops are a super easy way to earn money for our school. Clip Box Tops or download the Box Tops for Education app. Scan your receipts to earn free money for our school! It is that easy!
JCES Awards Program Schedule:

Third Grade: at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25
We are thankful to have this opportunity. Please reference the guidelines outlined in the Awards Day note sent home two weeks ago. A COVID-19 form will be sent home a few days prior so parents/guardians can have it filled out and ready to give us as you arrive and sign in for the program.
We greatly appreciate all you have done to support our students and school during the 2020-21 school year. Even through the challenges related to COVID-19 pandemic, your continued support and encouragement has helped us stay the course and provide learning experiences for our students. It is such a joy and privilege to watch our students learn and grow at JCES!
This year, we will not be able to have a public-attended field day, BUT Coach Debbie is planning “field day” activities for our students to participate and enjoy. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately on the following days: K-First Grade: May 19 and Second–Third Grade: May 20. If you choose to send sunscreen, please be sure it is labeled with your child’s name.
