Jacks Creek Elementary School is so excited to welcome back our students for another great year of learning! We will be publishing all the fun and exciting learning opportunities we experience throughout the year in this article! We will also post any important information for the parents of JCES students! Read on to hear what we were up to this past week!
Kindergarten had a great first week! Parents attended our parent orientation last Monday. Group A students attended Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Group B attended Friday, Monday and Tuesday. All students began attending Wednesday, Aug. 11.
We had a great first week in first grade! We worked on learning everyone’s names and all the rules and procedures. We started reviewing our letters, sounds, numbers and number words. We have a great group of kids this year and look forward to an amazing year!
We are so excited to be back at school in second grade! We enjoyed hearing and reading “Back to School” books. We really liked hearing “First Day Jitters,” and we loved the Jitter Juice and cookies we had to go with the book. We worked on getting back into the habit of following school rules and procedures by discussing these daily. We now started our reading series, CKLA, and we studied Fairy Tales and Tall Tales. In math, we learned about place value and basic addition. We will soon start having Science lessons with our weekly newspapers. It is good to be back at JCES!
We had a great start in third grade! We started the year learning about rules and procedures. We learned that we are the oldest kids in the school and how to help kindergarteners if they need it. This week, we began reading Third Grade Angels. This is a great novel to begin the year with. We also reviewed how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 using place value. We are going to have an awesome year!
SCHOOL INFORMATION: Our new year is in full swing! We know that parents have had a lot of “homework,” reading a lot of information, filling out forms, etc. This information is very important; therefore, please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions. If there are forms that have not been returned, please send to school ASAP.
PSO Membership Drive will be Aug. 18-Sept. 8. We are thankful for our families and stakeholders in the community who supper JCES. Encourage family, friends, and neighbors to become a member of the JCES Parent Support Organization. This is a great way for people in our community to invest in our students, the future leaders and citizens of Chester County. More details coming soon!
Are You Connected? JCES uses the Remind App to communicate information to parents. If you have not joined or if you have changed phone numbers, please text @ccsdces to 81010.
Looking Ahead:
Aug. 19 – Fall Picture Day
Sept. 2 – Progress Reports
Sept. 6 – NO SCHOOL (Labor Day)
