We have had such a great week here at Jacks Creek Elementary school as the semester winds down!
Kindergarten had another great week. Students are continuing to practice letter sounds and blending words to read, sight words, counting and subtracting. Students have enjoyed Christmas activities and are looking forward to our pajama day on Thursday and our breakfast on Friday. We hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas. Students dismiss at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, and return Jan. 4.
We have had a busy week in first grade! We have continued learning about outer space. We began writing a book report for the story “The Two Dogs.” We continued doing adding and subtracting strategies within 20 as well. We are looking forward to celebrating the holidays with each other next week.
In second grade we are happy to have our CASE testing behind us. Most of us showed growth and/or had good scores on ELA and Math, which shows we are learning a lot and working hard in the first half of second grade. We are ready to celebrate Christmas at school Friday with our classmates! We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
In third grade we completed our enCase Assessments. In reading we are reading “The Polar Express” to find the theme of the story and character perspective. In math we are using the information we learned about area to create a Santa Village. We hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas!
Our Beekeeper of the Week goes to Peyton Daniel, who says his favorite book series is the Junie B. Jones series and his favorite food is pineapple. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Beekeeper of the Week goes to Jennifer Smith. Her favorite book series is Harry Potter, and her favorite food is pizza! We appreciate all that she does as our computer lab teacher!
Labeling Items of Clothing: as temperature continues to fall, remember to label your child’s winter clothing items (jackets, coats, hats, etc.). We already have a few jackets hanging on our lost and found rack.
A huge THANK YOU to all of those who donated canned food items for our food drive. We had over 1,000 items donated during our canned food drive!
We are excited to offer our families a virtual Christmas Concert this year! More details will be sent home soon.
Box tops are a super easy way to earn money for our school. Clip box tops or download the box tops for education app. Scan your receipts to earn free money for our school! It is that easy!
