This week has been a great one! Let Jacks Creek Elementary School tell you why!
Kindergarten is reading short passages. We are writing simple sentences and using sight words daily. In math we are counting and writing numbers to 20.
We had a busy week in first grade last week. We began learning about the history of the earth by reading about the layers of the earth. We continued reading stories in our “Fables” reader to work on reading fluency. We learned the new sound /aw/ as in paw as well. In math we finished up topic 4 on subtracting within 20 strategies and took our topic test.
We have been working hard in second grade! Students continue to learn daily and have shown so much growth in reading and math since the beginning of the school year. We look forward to learning more with the weeks to come. We will be celebrating the 100th day of school very soon!
In third grade we continued our reading unit on Native Americans. This week we are doing research on the different Native American tribes in Tennessee. We will continue to learn about the different tribes and traditions for the next two weeks. In math we focused on reviewing area and finished up learning how to find perimeter. We continue to test fluency with multiplication facts. As always, skip counting and multiplication is so important to practice at home. The more they practice, the more confident they will become.
Our Beekeeper of the Week goes to Rylee Wright, who says his favorite book is “Monkey” and his favorite foods are pizza and macaroni and cheese. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Beekeeper of the Week goes to Kaela Autry. Her favorite book is the Bible, and her favorite food is Mexican food! We appreciate all that she does as one of our school nurse!
Labeling Items of Clothing: as temperatures continue to fall, remember to label your child’s winter clothing items (jackets, coats, hats, etc.). We already have a few jackets hanging on our lost and found rack.
Box tops are a super easy way to earn money for our school. Clip box tops or download the box tops for education app. Scan your receipts to earn free money for our school. It is that easy!
