We are thrilled to have another wonderful week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School! We have been excited to learn so many things before we head off to spring break!
Kindergarteners are working hard on reading and spelling words using ch, th, sh, qu and -ng! We can read and write simple sentences using punctuation marks. We are adding and subtracting within 10 and learning all about 3D shapes.
We have had a great week this week. We finished learning about animals and habitats. We continued reading “Green Fern Zoo.” We reviewed r controlled vowels, nouns, verbs and verb tenses. In math we continued to work our counting skills by learning about 10s and ones. We look forward to spring break and coming back on March 29.
We are having an eventful week in second grade at Jack’s Creek Elementary School. We celebrated completing Case assessments and had some fun educational St. Patrick’s Day activities. We are continuing to read about our brave knight Sir Gus in reading class. In math we finished learning about time and will soon start learning about line plots.
In third grade we continued our reading unit on Ecology. In this unit we are focusing on determining the meaning of domain specific vocabulary. Students are using their context clues and background knowledge from science to help them determine word meanings. We will be learning about relationships in nature and food chains. In math we learned how to determine the amount of elapsed time on a clock and assessed. After Spring Break, we will begin our unit on mass and volume. We continue to test fluency with multiplication facts. As always, skip counting and multiplication is so important to practice at home. The more they practice, the more confident they will become.
Our Beekeeper of the Week goes to Tucker Hays, who says his favorite book is “Cats and Dogs” and his favorite food is watermelon. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Beekeeper of the Week goes to Autumn Daniel. Her favorite book is the Bible, and her favorite food is Chinese food! We appreciate all that she does for our school as one of our paraprofessionals!
