Jacks Creek is excited to see our students every day. We love to watch them learn and experience new things. Important dates to remember: 8/25 – make-up day for fall pictures, 8/31 – Progress Reports and 9/5 – Labor Day (no school). Remember: We need your help! The PSO Membership Drive is a great fundraiser to help raise money for our school!
The Beekeepers of the Week are Bryant Miller and Tyler Hemby. Bryant’s favorite book is, “the Magic Treehouse.” His birthday is Dec. 29, and his favorite food is pizza. Tyler’s favorite book is, “Football.” His birthday is May 22, and his favorite food is hamburgers.
Kindergarteners are learning to print horizontal and vertical lines preparing us for printing letters! We are counting to five and writing numbers to show how many objects are in a group. We have been learning all the rules and routines of our classrooms.
Our first graders began working in CKLA in Reading this week. They have enjoyed hearing fables that Aesop told so many years ago. In writing, the boys and girls are telling about how they feel about riding or not riding a school bus. In math they are continuing to add using doubles and near doubles.
We have been working hard in second grade! We have been reviewing reading skills and have started learning about place-value. We look forward to upcoming events and all the knowledge we will gain in second grade. Thank you for taking the time to complete homework with your child.
Third grade has loved reading our new story “Wind in the Willows.” We have been learning how to find the main idea and theme of a story. In math we are wrapping up addition and subtraction. We will begin to learn about factors in multiplication. In Social Studies we have learned about cardinal and intermediate directions, different types of maps and major places around the world, the United States and Tennessee.
