Another week of amazing learning here at Jacks Creek Elementary! We have loved having families come back to our school to eat lunch with their child. Important dates to remember: 9/21 – Fall Picture Order Deadline and Sept. 27 – Benchmark 1 Assessments begin.
The Beekeepers of the Week are Gage Norcross and Halle Buckley. Gage’s favorite book is The Magic Tree House. His birthday is Nov. 10, and his favorite food is pizza. Halle’s favorite book is Owl Diaries. Her birthday is Sept. 11, and her favorite food is alfredo.
Kindergarten had a great week! Students are beginning to focus on letter sounds, letter formation, putting things into categories and counting each group. Students enjoyed seeing all the animals at our assembly on Wednesday. Students are enjoying our dress-up week to help celebrate the high school homecoming. Be on the look out for information coming soon about our upcoming field trip and fall festival activities.
We had a wonderful and exciting week in first grade. We finished our fables and folktales read aloud unit and began our unit on the human body. In skills we continued to learn about nouns, various tricky words, and read more stories in our “SnapShots” reader. In writing we are learning to write complete sentences when asked a question about a story. In math we have been finishing up our unit on adding and subtracting strategies and reviewing for our test. In the midst of all this learning, we also got to see the animal guy and duct tape our principal to the wall!
We have been working hard in second grade! We are beginning new topics in math and reading. In math we are learning about working with equal groups. In reading we are learning about cycles in nature. We will also begin our new skills unit with the reader Bedtime Tales. Thank you to everyone who is working to raise money for PSO. We look forward to upcoming events and all the knowledge we will gain in second grade.
Third grade is learning all about animal classifications and how scientists organize animals based on their characteristics. We are learning how to use text features and context clues to gain a better understanding of the text. In math we are learning the relationship between multiplication and division. In science we are learning about animal life cycles.
