Another week of amazing learning here at Jacks Creek Elementary! We have loved having families come back to our school to eat lunch with their child. Important dates to remember: Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Oct. 6, Report Cards for the first nine weeks will go home Oct. 6 and Fall Break will start Oct. 7-17.
The Beekeepers of the Week are Gage Norcross and Halle Buckley. Gage’s favorite book is “The Magic Tree House.” His birthday is Nov. 10, and his favorite food is pizza. Halle’s favorite book is “Owl Diaries.” Her birthday is Sept. 11, and her favorite food is alfredo.
Kindergarten had a fantastic week! Students are working hard on learning letter sounds, blending words, position and location words and counting. Thank you to everyone who was able to come to our family luncheon. We are looking forward to upcoming parent-teacher conferences. Be on the lookout for a sign up paper coming home this week in your child’s folder.
We had a busy week in first grade! We took several assessments this week to see what we already know. We also continued to learn about the human body by learning about the skeletal and muscular systems. We read other stories in “Snap Shots” and continued learning tricky words and reviewed nouns. We also continued working on writing sentences. In math we took our topic test and started a new topic of solving word problems within 10.
We have been working hard in second grade! In math we are learning about learning various strategies for adding. In reading we are continuing to learn about cycles in nature. We are also continuing with the reader “Bedtime Tales” to learn about fables and improve our fluency. We look forward to upcoming events and all the knowledge we will gain in second grade.
Third grade is learning all about birds and mammals. We are learning how scientists use their characteristics to classify them. In math we are continuing to learn about the relationship that exists between multiplication and division. Our students have been working hard on learning multiplication facts. These facts are VERY important for third grade. In science we are learning about adaptations.
