Jacks Creek Elementary School had another wonderful week of learning and growing! We are so thankful for the teachers and staff that help us learn in a fun way as we celebrated Dr. Seuss week!
Kindergarteners are learning about farms and crops and why they are important to us. We are completing subtraction and addition word problems and using objects to solve. We can read and write words with digraphs and consonant blends!
We had a wonderful week in first grade. We continued learning about the types of rocks and fossils. In skills, we continued reading about various animals at the Green Fern Zoo. We loved celebrating Read Across America week by reading lots of Dr. Seuss books, dressing up and eating themed snacks. In math we finished up our unit on missing numbers in equations, true and false equations and adding three addends.
In second grade we are getting ready for the Mastery Connect (CASE) Assessment next week! We are reviewing all math and ELA skills that we can so we are better prepared. We need to be well rested and focused next week in order to do our BEST on the test. We are looking forward to some great rewards for our hard work! We will soon be going to see the play “Snow White,” and we will have “Bouncing into Spring” fun before Spring Break.
In third grade this week, we were excited to finish up our unit on Colonial America and begin our unit on ecology. Environments, habitats and ecosystems are just a few of the cool topics we are learning. In math we are continuing to learn about elapsed time and will begin measurement soon. Great things are happening at our school.
Our first student spotlight of the week goes to Ellis Eads whose favorite food is French fries and favorite book is “Hunches and Bunches.” Our second student spotlight of the week goes to Cameron Cupples whose favorite food is pizza and favorite book is “The Cat in the Hat.” We are proud to have these students shine brightly at our school!
Thank you so much for your hard work during the Dominos’ Fundraiser. We raised $3,030 thanks to your generous donations to our school!
