It was a wonderful week of showing what we have learned here at Jacks Creek Elementary School! Read on to hear what hard work and reward looks like!
Kindergarten had a great week. Students continued to work on important skills such as reading words with digraphs, sentence writing, sight words, counting to 100 and addition fluency. Spring pictures will be Thursday, March 23. We are looking forward to Spring Break March 27-31. Monday, April 3, will be a staff development day, and students will return on April 4.
We have had a fun week in first grade! We have learned about the Arctic tundra and ocean, Sonoran desert and African savanna habitats. We love learning about the various animals that are in each one. In skills we continued reading in our Green Fern Zoo book as well as reviewed nouns, verbs, adjectives, contractions and r-controlled vowel one and two syllable words. In math we finished up our unit on data/graphs and began a unit on extending the counting sequence. We also enjoyed a field trip to see a ballet of “Snow White.”
In second grade classrooms, we are celebrating how hard we worked on the Mastery Connect test and throughout this school year so far. Our teachers and Mr. Buckley are so proud of how we have worked this year and also how well we did on our tests. So we get to have a special treat to “Bounce into Spring” with a Bouncy Slide and Bouncy Obstacle Course! On Tuesday, March 21, many of us had a parent or two join us for lunch. Finally, we are also VERY excited to be heading into Spring Break! We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe break! After this break, we will get back and work a few more weeks as we review standards to prepare for the TCAP test and learn a bit more.
This has been an extremely busy week for us in third grade. We completed our final Benchmark on Thursday. On Friday, we had a special treat! We all went to the Carl Perkins Civic Center for the ballet performance of Snow White. The students are very excited for Spring Break.
Our first student spotlight of the week goes to Sabastian Dawkins, whose favorite food is pizza and favorite book is “Nibbles.” Our second student spotlight of the week goes to Taylor Hemby, whose favorite food is pizza and favorite book is “Cat in the Hat.” We are proud to have these students shine brightly at our school!
