We had a fantastic week of showing off all that we have learned here at Jacks Creek Elementary School as we worked hard on our TCAP!
Kindergarten is learning to share their opinions through writing. We are adding and subtracting within 10 using multiple strategies. We are reading fluently and answering questions using text-based responses.
First graders have continued with their read-aloud and have enjoyed listening to the story, “Hansel and Gretel.” They have been reviewing tricky words and plurals during Skills and using models to add and subtract 10s in math.
In second grade we have now completed most of our End-of-Year BIG assessments. We will be taking a TCAP Writing Field Test on Wednesday, May 10. We are excited that we have most of our testing finished, and more importantly, that we did an awesome job reading and solving math problems. As we continue learning in math, we are going to be working on some multiplication and practicing our addition and subtraction fluency. In ELA, we will wrap up our Student Reader “Sir Gus” (the utterly fearless knight.) On Friday, we will have our JCES Field Day! We are excited to compete with our classmates and other second graders in lots of games set up by Coach Debbie. The BIG event will be the Tug-of-War between our two second grade classes!
TCAP has come and gone. YAY! We have worked hard this year and shown how much we know! We enjoyed a Fun Friday to celebrate. Our third graders planted marigolds, played games and simply relaxed after a hard two weeks of testing. There will be lots of exciting opportunities for our third graders in the next few weeks and lots of memories to be made before they leave the Creek and head to the Middle School.
Our first student spotlight of the week goes to Peyton Daniel whose favorite food is pizza and favorite book is “Creepy Creatures.” Our second student spotlight of the week goes to Luca Newton whose favorite food is pizza and favorite book is “Dog Man.” We are proud to have these students shine brightly at our school!
