Hello from Deanburg! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and I wish you a healthy and prosperous, Happy New Year. If you noticed, I failed to get my news in the last two weeks, and I am sorry about that.
These community neighbors and friends need our prayers: Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles, Ms. June Davis, Johnny Roach and his son Johnny, Jr.
This time of the year always brings out the best in people. I wish it could be Christmas every day. Please reach out to our shut-ins and nursing home folks. Also, our military, our law enforcement and first responders, and don’t forget the ones that have lost loved ones. Galatlians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens and in this way will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Congratulations to Kristen Jones and her husband “Jonesy” in the birth of their baby boy. He sure is a cutie. We are so happy for you and your family.
Happy birthday to Mrs. Mary Dell Gilchrist. I hope you have a health many more years.
Our community club meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 7. I hope we can have more members and attendees this year. New folks to our community are encouraged to join us every first Tuesday of the month. Refreshments are served.
Our devotion this week: “God caused the Bible to be written for the express purpose of revealing to us God’s plan for His redemption. God caused the Book to be written that He might make His everlasting laws clear to His children, and that they might have His great wisdom to guide them, and His great love to comfort them as they make their way through life. For without the Bible this world would indeed be a dark and frightening place, without signpost or beacon.
The Bible easily qualifies as the only book in which God’s revelation is contained. There are many bibles of different religions; there is the Mohammedan Koran, the Buddhist Canon of Sacred Scripture, the Zoroastrian Zend-Avesta, and the Brahman Veda…They all begin with some flashes of true light, and end in utter darkness. Even the most casual observer soon discovers that the Bible is radically different. It is the only Book that offers redemption to us and points the way out of our dilemma.
Today’s Scripture –
These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God . . . – John 20:31
Today’s Prayer –
Lord Jesus, as I read Your Word, Your truth shines through and illuminates a dark world.” – from Billy Graham Evangelistic Association UK
Happy new year again. So hard to believe it is 2020! Have a blessed week and 2020.
