Hello from Deanburg! As you know, there have been problems getting my column out to you. I promise I will get it straightened out!
Happy Birthday to June Davis and Nancy Kitchen on June 1 and Meagan Landers on June 2.
Our devotion is from Max Lucado this week: “The Dungeon of Bitterness” – “‘If you forgive others for their sins, your Father in heaven will also forgive you for your sins.’ Matthew 6:14. Bitterness is its own prison. The sides are slippery with resentment. A floor of muddy anger stills the feet. The stench of betrayal fills the air and stings the eyes. A cloud of self pity locks the viewer from the tiny exit above. Step in and look at the prisoners. Victims are chained to the walls. Victims of abuse. The dungeon, deep and dark, is beaconing you to enter…You can, you know. You’ve experienced enough hurt…or you can choose, like some, to put away hurts before it become hates…How does God deal with your bitter heart? He reminds you that what you have is more important than what you don’t have. You still have your relationship with God. No one can take that.”
On our prayer list is Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Briana Landers, Gary Hyatt, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles and June Davis.
I pray for our community, our country and leaders, our devoted police officers, first responders and victims of the riots and murders and the families of those people. I could go on and on. Please stay in and stay safe from the virus as well as the ones just looking to hurt people and destroy our nation and what we believe in and what our four fathers meant this country to be! Things are so bad in our wonderful country. We had no idea that we would be facing all that 2020 has brought us. I hope that you have a great week and a Happy Fourth of July. Our Independence Day! Maybe we will stop and think about what it means to us this year.
Praise God for his protection.
