Greetings from Deanburg! I hope you all have had a great week. COVID-19 cases have slowed down. Praise God.
Birthday this week are Doris Pickett and Chris Julian on April 29, Ethan Long and Michael Hayne on May 3, and my husband Orban Goff on May 5. I hope you all have a great day! If you see these folks this week, wish them a happy birthday!
Please continue prayers for these folks: Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Jim Ruth, Bobby and Judy Ruth, Woodie Deming, Joyce Stewart and Samantha Mosier. Please remember those that have lost loved ones. There have been so many!
If you know anyone that needs prayer, call me or text me. Also, keep our law enforcement, all first responders and our military in your prayers as well as our dear country.
The community center is hosting a surprise birthday drop by celebration for Anita Fish from 1-3 p.m. May 22. This is a surprise, so DO NOT tell Ms. Anita.
Pleasant Springs United Methodist Church will celebrate Mother’s Day/Homecoming on May 9. Pleasant Springs became a church in the late 1880s. Since there were no gravel or black top roads, there were few church services during the rainy and cold months, so by agreement, their all day homecoming for each year would be the second Sunday of May. Homecoming at Pleasant Springs Church will be celebrated for the 140th time this year, missing only one year last year due to COVID. Mother’s Day is also celebrated on the second Sunday in May, so please join us in our Homecoming and Mother’s Day this year on Sunday, May 9. Church services will begin at 11 a.m. with dinner to be shared on the church grounds/fellowship hall. We look forward to seeing you at Pleasant Springs Methodist Church.
Our devotion: Would You Tell Me? – “‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’” Zechariah 8:23 Recommended Reading: John 1:40-42 One of the most helpful aspects of a social media platform is connectivity. Many neighborhoods have online groups that allow members to ask and share information like, “Does anyone know of a good plumber/electrician/landscaper/remodeler that you would recommend?” In other words, the most valuable form of advertisement is a satisfied customer who will recommend a service provider to others. When the prophet Zechariah ministered in the post-exilic world of the Jews who had returned from captivity, he saw an amazing development: The day would come when people from all over the world would ask a Jew to lead them to the house of God. That kingdom vision hasn’t happened yet, but will, likely during the Millennium when Christ rules over all the earth. And it can certainly happen when people discover our hope in an eternity with God. Are you excited about heaven? Let your excitement be an open invitation for others to ask, ‘Would you tell me how I can get there?’”
Take time this week to read your Bibles and pray. Prayer is very powerful. God bless each of you. My number is 879-9777.
