Hello from Enville! I hope everyone had a great week! I am so glad the icy and oh so cold temperatures are gone for a while. This week looks like no rain and sunny skies with warmer temperatures on up in the day. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone. It will be Monday, Feb. 14; the reason we celebrate it on this day is because it is believed that Saint Valentine died on this day. It has become a commercial celebration of romance and love in our world where candy, flowers, gifts and now chocolate covered strawberries are exchanged between loved ones all in the name of St. Valentine. Do not forget your valentine this year! I always look forward to the strawberries…hint, hint because he always reads my column!
Congratulations to Dr. Anderson for leading Chester County Junior High to achieve turnaround success. She is always so upbeat and uplifting our children. Thank you for your commitment and hard work!
CCJHS Volleyball has begun. We watched our granddaughter, Reece, play her first game this week. I am sure we will see a few more during this season. Chester County Dixie Youth is about to get busy in February with coaches meetings, cleanup days at the ballpark and signups. March 5 is also signup day, March 12 is tryouts and draft and April 9 is opening day and pictures.
If you need smoke detectors, call Fire Chief Thomas Gilham at 608-0696. The Enville VFD will have a spaghetti supper and cake walk fundraiser on March 5. Mark your calendars and support them. We hope we never need them, but we never know! They work hard behind the scenes. They meet, have training and have to keep the trucks in good working condition, so they are always ready to go when needed!
Happy Birthday wishes go to Cameron Finley and Michael Swafford on Feb. 11, Mildred Goodwin on Feb. 12, Michael Frank on Feb. 14 and Randi Baxter on Feb. 17. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for the families of Joanne Vancleave and Dossie Tally. Also, continue prayers for Jack and Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Agnes Smith, Linda and Robert Johnson, Mary Lee Guyon, Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Florence Stublaski, Lisa Bishop, Amanda Johnson, Melinda Johnston, Janice and Danny Keen, Ashley Pugh, Ann Pugh, Inez Cash, Genny Sue Martin, Jimmy Robertson, Della Mixon, Glenda Moore, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Shirley Hampton, Tim Harris, Roger and Sue Henson, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military and schools and, as always, each other.
We would like to invite all our candidates to come and speak at 6:30 p.m. at the April 5 Enville Community Club meeting.
If you have news, call me at 608-3058, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat at 688-5125.
Have a blessed week everyone!
