With Jan Johnson

Hello from Enville. I hope everyone had a great week! As the song says, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” It is just that. The wind is very sharp and gusty at times and seems to go to the bone, but the weather man says it is going to warm up with little chance of rain as the week goes on, which is fine by me. The Henderson Christmas Parade is Thursday night at 7 p.m. The temperatures are going to be great for the parade. I like for it to be somewhat cold. It just feels like Christmas. I can remember going to the Henderson parade when it was almost hot. Just doesn’t seem right, so hopefully, this year will be perfect!
The streets and roads look very pretty with all the Christmas lights and trees already up. I have our inside all decorated but still have the outside to do. Hopefully, we can get it done soon. As fast as time is passing, we have to get busy, or it will be too late. I love looking at all the Christmas decorations!
I hope everyone who was brave enough survived the Black Friday shopping. I know it is a tradition for some and that is great, but we waited until Saturday and also went on Sunday afternoon. It was not overly crowded at all. So many folks shopped online for Cyber Monday, getting those good deals without all the hustle and bustle.
Enville sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Priscilla Gilbert on Dec. 6 and Kira Weatherington and Tristan Weatherington on Dec. 10. Happy Anniversary to Shane and Tanya Harwell and Jack and Judy Rogers on Dec. 9. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please continue prayers for Linda and Christy Phillips, Jo Marie Holmes, Danny and Janice Keen, Agnes Smith, Jean Crowell, Jack and Tera O’Neal, Mary Lee Guyon, Niecie Pearson, Florence Stublaski, Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Doris Weeks, Baby Kohen Garrard, Baby Addilyn Finley, Tim Harris, Harold and Janice Maness, Novelee Massengill, Harold James, Jim Perrin, Ann Vanhoose, Neal Brewer, Roger and Sue Henson, those who have lost loved ones, our military families, nursing home families, firefighters, first responders and law enforcement families and, as always, each other.
If you would like to add someone to our prayer list, call me. Prayer works!
The Enville Cafe is for sale. For more information, call Jackey Bethune at 608-6406.
It was great to see Jim and Donna Wade, along with their grandson, Theo, and his mom and dad, Kelly and Peyton Weber. They were at the farm for the Thanksgiving holiday. We are always glad to have breakfast with you all so hope you can come back soon!
If you would like to become involved in your community, the Enville Community Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday night of each month. It is a potluck meal with January being soup, sandwiches and desserts. We would love to have you join in! The Enville Volunteer Fire Department meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday nights of each month. The Enville Town Mayor and Board meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday night of each month. These are open to the public, so get involved to make our community a better place to live!
If you want to rent the community center, call Pat at 688-5125, or if you have news, call me at 688-5129. Have a blessed week everyone!
