Greetings to the People of Chester County everywhere. For this is a new week, and we only have one more week left in January. So let us give thanks to the Lord for all He has done for us in this week because this is the day the Lord has made! Let us be glad in!
Most of us enjoyed the day off from work and school on Monday because of Dr. King. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., an influential American civil rights leader, is most known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for his fight for racial equality in the United States. His most famous address was the “I Have a Dream” speech during the march for jobs and freedom in Washington, D.C. on Aug. 28, 1963. In this speech he called for an end to racism in the United States and for civil and economic rights. He was an advocate of non-violent protest and became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. We must keep the dream alive, and, with how the U.S.A. is today, we cannot allow the DREAM to die.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, there was a great celebration happening in the Chester County City Hall. The City Mayor, County Mayor, several other elected officials and local residents came together to help keep the “Dream” that Dr. Martin Luther King had alive. Zakkus Bonds did an outstanding job singing the National Anthem; prayer was given by Pastor Todd Davis, and scripture, by Pastor Johnny Williamson. The M. L. King Mass Choir, Great Evangelical praise team, Pastor Dr. Barbara Fitzhugh, Mr. Leroy Woods, and Mrs. Cynthia Woods did an outstanding job with the songs. Mrs. Sylvia Flowers took us back in time with the “Reflections,” describing all of the inventions created by African-Americana that make our life so much easier today. Apostle Frank Holiday brought forth a wonderful message, very powerful and to the point. Mr. Bobby King and Mr. Barry Hutcherson presented the Proclamations to Mr. Johan Welch and Dr. Jerry Woods. Thank you, Commissioner John L. Welch and Dr. Jerry Woods, for a NOTEWORTHY MLK celebration!
Frank Holiday and the Greater Evangelical Ministry family invite you to join them in their one week revival. The church is located at 1854 Airport Rd, Selmer. Time will be 7 p.m. nightly. The theme is “Becoming More Effective Wittiness for Christ,” Act 1:8.
