Hello to my family and friends. It is a blessing to be with you one more day. For this is the Day the Lord has made, let us enjoy it and give the Lord some thanks! The thought for today is, “If you can stay Positive in a Negative situation you WIN.” This statement is at my job, and I just wanted to share it. We are winners!
The Tennessee Wrestling match on Friday, March 10, was very good! Some parents shared with me that their children really enjoyed it, and while at the match, they were standing up the whole time, and now all they are saying is, “LET’S RUMBLEEEE!” The city of Henderson is so proud of NEO Products and Hare Financial in their helping to support the Chester County Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center. To the staff of Carl Perkins, thank you for all you do in helping to prevent child abuse in our county!
Monday was such a beautiful cold day, and the sun was just gorgeous in the blue sky. This time next Monday, March 20, will be the first day of “spring.” You know I do like the cold weather; however, I will welcome some warmer weather so I can work in my yard.
With this being Women’s History month, a shout out goes to Ms. Amie Croom; she is the mother of two handsome young men, Charleston Croom and Darrius “DJ” Johnson. She is a hard worker for Southwest and at church. For the church where she has been a member for 48 years, she works with the youth department; she is a taxi for the youth because she will pick them up for church if they need a ride or anyone else that may need transportation. She works with the ladies’ events at church. She is one of the spearheads for the yearly Black History program for the Community in February. At work she is the coordinator for the at Risk/Summer Food program that ensures the children receive nutritious meals; this also includes our seniors’ nutrition. When she leaves work, she is checking on her parents or grandparent. Amie is a lady with many hats, and she does not know how to say NO to you! As long as it is nothing bad, she will try her best to get it done! Amie, your family and the City of Henderson appreciate and love you! Next week, I will have another woman to highlight. If you know of someone, please let me know.
On Thursday, March 9, Southwest HRA Head Start had a Parent Day/Career/Job Fair. There were some great companies that came out to support the Community: such as the Tennessee Career Coach, Salvation Army, Jackson State Community College, Chester County Adult Education, Henderson Stamping, Quality Metal Control, Head Start, House/WAP/LIHEAP/Emergency, Senior Service and TN College of Applied Technology (Crump). Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to help support the well-being of head start parents and the community!
Birthdays this week are Audria Brown Dunn, March 14; Penny Gower, March 15; and Marsha Smith, Carter Scales and James Welch, March 19. Your friends, families and the City would like to say how much we appreciate all of the hard work you do for the community. We pray the Lord bless all you with many more birthdays!
The City’s deepest condolences go out to the families that have had their loved ones called home by the Lord. There are no words to tell you how sorry we are. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
On the prayer list this week: the Thomas family, the Prather family, the Hart family, the White family, another Prather family from Selmer, the Walker Family, your family, children and teachers and men and women who are serving our country. Please say a SPECIAL prayer for little Kennedy McNeal that the Lord will heal her body and pray for her mother Felicia McNeal and Dad Kenneth Brooks to give them strength to go through this season of their life. While you are praying, please remember Ms. Evaughn and for our United States.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City I need to hear from you; text me at 731-608-6132 and leave your message.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
