Hello to the people of Chester County everywhere. It is good to be with you today. The Lord has allowed us to be together one more time. This weekend was so beautiful. Thank you, Lord, for the sunshine and the liquid sunshine you gave us; we needed it. As I was driving down the road, I was thinking how good the Lord is to the people. He looks beyond our faults and see our needs. I am so glad to know if I/we trust in Him he will never leave or forsake us no matter how hard it gets. Because this is the day the Lord has made, and we are going to rejoice and be glad in it!
I had a ball this Saturday. It was good fellowship with friends I have not seen in years. I would name them, but I am afraid that I would leave someone out. I also met new friends. Remember the song “Make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold”? On Saturday, April 22, the Jones family had a gala celebration for their mother, grandmother, cousin, sister, etc., at the Senior Center. Ms. Estelle Jones celebrated her 100th birthday, and I was there to help them celebrate. The family and friends did an excellent job. It was a blessing to hold Ms. Estelle’s hand and talk with her and with her children as well. Any person who lives to be 100 years young and is still in their right mind, walking and talking, is a blessing. Thank you, Jones family, for sharing your mother with the City of Henderson and giving her flowers while she can smell them!
Our condolences go out to the family of Mr. Franklin Smith; at one time he was the Mayor of Haywood County and the Director of Southwest HRA. The City is so sorry for your loss. We will remember Mr. Smith and how much he loved the community and the people in the community. He will be missed but not forgotten.
The next time you read this article it will be a new month. May will be here soon. It is the third and last month of the season of spring. The birthstone of May is the emerald, which symbolizes success and love. In May, nicer weather brings people out to participate in walkathons and events that focus on healthy living. It is also the time that moms around the world get showered with love for Mother’s Day. Another favorite United States celebration in May is Memorial Day, the national holiday that is also known as the unofficial start to summer. It is also the time when so many of our students would be preparing for one of the major milestones in their life. The city would like to give a shout out to the Class of 2023! The city wants to let you know we are so proud of you, and it does not stop here. Take this time and use it for the future. I would love to give a shout out by name of someone you know who is graduating this year. Just email me at gloria_holiday@msn.com. Subject will be SHOUT OUT. Please tell me about the person graduating this year; the shout out will be from you, so please include your name.
Let us not forget to recognize our essential workers doctors, nurses, and first responders and thank them for their service. So many times you are over look! Thank you for your service!
The Chester County Head Start staff would like to say, “Thank You,” to all of the parents that allow their child/children to attend Head Start.
