Hello to my family and friends. It is a blessing to be with you one more day. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Live it as if it was your last day to be alive because one day it will be. It is almost here. Spring is in a few more days. I will be glad to have some warm weather. However, thank you, Lord, for whatever type of weather you allow to come our way.
Parents, get ready. March 23-27 is Spring Break for our children here in Chester County. It is always a great time for families to have any kind of break with their children. I miss those days. Make some plans for this Spring Break and remember you do not have to spend lots of money to have fun. We went camping and fishing, rode bikes, played sport and had lots of family competition. We had a ball! I guess all of that time and fun we had together paid off when we were on the game show Family Feud. Time goes by fast; enjoy your children while you can. One day you will wake up in your sixties wondering, “Where did the time go?” All your children will be grown. I am like Carol Burnett for those who can remember her. At the end of her television show, she would always sang this song, “I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together.” Like my grandmother Mrs. Zelma Bass always told us, “If a family prays and play together, they will stay together.” And I believed her!
Well, if I asked the question, “What is Bloody Sunday?” how many would know the answer? It has been 55 years since the six hundred marchers assembled in Selma on Sunday, March 7, 1965, crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge over the Alabama River in route to Montgomery and being attacked by police. That violent episode became known as “Bloody Sunday.” So let us not forget those who paved the way for so many. Get out there and exercise your right to vote.
Our condolence goes out to Mrs. Mary Lee Farris Frye’s family. I remember those days on the ballfield sitting in the bleachers cheering for our team. If there was a good or bad call on the field, she would hit me on the shoulder and say, “Did you see that?” I would reply back, “Yes, mama, I did.” Then we both would burst out laughing. I will never forget those good times we had on the ballfield and the time she was campaigning for her son Keith, and by the way, he WON! I remember that beautiful smile and hugs she would always give. That happy little lady we will always remember is gone but not forgotten, she will always be in our heart.
Well, it has come and gone. The 2020 wresting match benefit for the Chester County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse was the past weekend. Terry Hearn along with so many other worked very hard for this great event. I did not make it this year, but I heard lots of good things about it. So keep up the great work! The kids had a ball! And so did the adults.
The Birthday list: On March 6, Jennifer-Ann McAnally, the daughter of Debra McAnally, celebrated her birthday. The city wish you a happy belated birthday. We know you had a wonderful day! The Cool Springs Baptist Church Family wants to wish Bro. Carter Scales and Bro. James Welch, who both share the same birthday, March 19, a Happy Birthday! My sister Audria Brown Dunn celebrates on March 14. Happy Birthday from your family, little sister. We love you! Penny Gower’s is on March 15. Your family and friends wish you a happy birthday.
On the prayer list this week: pray for those affected by the coronavirus outbreak around the world, our friends and loved ones in Nashville, our children, teachers and families and the men and women who are serving our country. Remember to tell someone you love them.
