Greetings! I am glad to be with you for another week. It is only by the grace of our God. Since the last time we were together, there has been so much destruction in the U.S. from floods, fires, and hurricanes. Some of us had families that lived through the devastation of these natural disasters, and some families did not. Many have lost everything they owned and no food or water. So no matter what is going on in our life today, look around and realize you/we are blessed!
Sad to say that on Saturday, Sept. 19, we laid to rest a dear beloved family member and friend to many – Mrs. Minnie Gertrude Gray. Our prayers are with the family; she will be missed but not forgotten.
Now, as most of you already know, would be the time for the kick off of the 43rd Annual Chester County Barbeque Festival. However, because of COVID-19 pandemic, it was the best of interest for public health and safety not to have it this year, but do not worry! Johny Farris is here to save the day! The famous RIB guys from the Chester County Barbeque Festival led by Johny Farris are cooking. It will be a Henderson/Chester County Chamber RIB fundraiser sponsored by “thrivet.” So mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 30! One rack of ribs is $25! You can not beat the price! Tickets must be purchased by Friday, Oct. 16, and are available at the Henderson/Chester County Chamber office or by contacting one of the board members. Drive-thru pick up at the Barbeque Festival Selling Pit from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information, call 989-5222.
Pastor Apostle Marles Flowers, the husband of Mrs. Sylvia (Brown) Flowers, from Henderson has returned home after 65 days in the hospital, recovering from COVID-19. It is only by the grace of God and the prayers from the ones who prayed for him and believed in healing. The family wants to say thank you and they love you all! We are praying for all families and loved ones who have COVID-19 for their healing.
Can you believe we only have three more months left in the year of 2020. To God be the GLORY! The year of 2020 will not be forgotten, but before I go to a New Year, a new month is arriving soon. So what does this month bring? In the United States, the month of October is to let the public know about health and safety issues, such as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM); Heart Awareness Month; Eat Better, Eat Together Month; Health Literacy Month; and National Dental Hygiene Month. So please take next month to go take care of yourself if you have not done it already. October is a great month to get it done.
On the birthday list this week: a big Happy Birthday to the last for the month in September. We hope you all will have a blessed birthday. On the prayer list this week: pray for our loved ones who are in the hospitals, for the ones who are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families and for the men and women who are serving our country.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. I would like to thank the ones who are calling and emailing me with your news. Keep it up and send me more.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
