Hello to everyone reading the Independent. It is always a blessing to be part of your life. Why? Because you are my family and friends, and this is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! I hope and pray that you will have a great week. For me and my house, we did. Can you believe the month of April is half way gone? The month May will be here before we know it, and the class of 2021 will be getting ready to graduate. WOW! It does not seem real. I am so proud to see more of our students going to TCAT (Tennessee College of Applied Technology). There was a total of seven – God’s perfect number. It is a great way to learn a career and to start your life long career. The City of Henderson says congratulations to Triston Bennett, Braden Burkhead, Jocelyn Gentry, Avery Croom, Christian Trice, Kendrick Tole and Brock Hall. I know that you will do great, and within time, I will be call on one you to work on my air condition.
The City of Henderson gives a shout out to Marc Joblin. Thank you for taking time to plant the beautiful tulips and daffodils down Main Street. I was wondering who planted the beautiful flowers. At first I thought the city planted the flowers; however, I was wrong. Yes, you are correct; everybody loves the tulips and daffodils. Now you have spoiled us. We will be looking for the beautiful tulips and daffodils every year. It will be a tradition now in Henderson and name them Marc Joblin flowers.
Just a reminder. If you have a child old enough for kindergarten, you can pick up the Kindergarten Registration packets at the Chester County Board of Education Office at 970 East Main Street from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Take your registration packets to the school your child will be attending from 3:30-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, or 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, April 16.
Southwest Head Start is now taking applications on three- and four-year old children for Chester County Head Start in Henderson. No fees for services. A Very Happy Belated Birthday to a young man that loves Henderson and the people that live here. Every time I talk with him, he always wants to tell everyone hello and to pray for him. On Sunday, April 11, this young man celebrated his 83rd birthday. Yes! I am talking about our dear friend, Mr. Jimmy Ruth. I know he will be reading this sooner or later because he loves to read everyone’s columns. The people here in Henderson are praying for you. Just remember you are as young as you feel. We pray the Lord will bless you with many more birthdays!
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to Celeste Taylor who will celebrate on 4/30, Dimitric Carter Brown on 4/26 and Amy Alvis on 4/28. God bless you with many more. The city would like to take this time to wish all of our loved ones in the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center who had a birthday this week a very Happy Birthday. HAPPY BIRTH DAY TO YOU!
Last but not least, we, the people, need to pray for our United States of America. We are in trouble. If you are not a registered voter, go and register; if you are a registered voter, go and make sure all of your information is correct, so you can make a difference.
Remember to pray for our children, teachers and families, the sick and shut-in, our men and women who are serving our country and also the incarcerated. Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
