Hello to everyone!
For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! I hope you had a great week. For me and my household, this was one of the best weekends ever. Why? Because my husband made it home safely from Texas, and I just love being with my family! We laugh, we play, we have meals together, we talk, we agree to disagree, we cry and my little LaWanna is still making sure we exercise together. Our children remind us we are not getting any younger, and we must keep moving and get our checkups. It is great to have children that care about you. October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. So do not forget to donate.
I hope all of you on Fall Break are enjoying this recess. Everyone will be back with a new attitude (hopefully a good one) on Oct. 18 and will be counting down the days to Thanksgiving.
Friday, Oct. 15, is Boss’s Day! Boss’s Day is held on Oct. 16 or the closest weekday each year, and it has traditionally been a day for employees to thank their Boss for being understanding and fair to all employees throughout the year. If you have a boss like that, let them know how much you appreciate them.
Another loved one is laid to rest. I knew Mr. Douglas Wayne Burkhead to be a very kind person. I remember him as a postman walking and delivering the mail back in the 60s. I also remember when my husband and I moved on Pisgah Rd. It was Douglas who came to our home and welcomed us to Henderson. When we received the news, my husband and I were out of town, and we missed the going home celebration. To his twin sister, Ms. Delores, you know there are so many people in Henderson that love you. We are praying for you and the family. Always remember Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” We will always remember Douglas.
The 2021 Medicare Open Enrollment Period is Oct. 15–Dec. 7 for a Jan. 1, 2022 effective date. During this time, all Medicare recipients can change their Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for 2022. Information on the 2022 plan is available. You can call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit www.medicare.gov for plan information.
On the prayer list for this week: Mr. Clarence Harris, Mr. John L. Welch, Mrs. Betty Bass Williams and the Burkhead family. Let us continue to pray for our country; we need it more now than ever!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 989-1907/608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
