Hello to everyone! It is truly a blessing to be with my family and friends one more time. Thank you for taking time to read our hometown paper. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us REJOICE and be GLAD in it!
November is a very special month for me. Why? Because it is a Military Month. It is a month that we honor Veterans around the world. Veterans fought for our freedom and risked their lives whether or not some realize it or appreciate it. Without the service of Veterans, we would not have the freedoms we have today.
Another reason is because on Nov. 10, 2021, the USMC will celebrate 246 years of service. Yes! I am a proud Marine that serviced MY country for 21 years from 1973-1994. Not only did I serve, I have several family members who served – my husband Pastor Frank Holiday Sr. USMC/Army retired, my brothers Mr. Larry (Henry) Brown, USMC, retired, and Mr. Dennis Brown, USMC. It just did not stop with the Marines; we had other siblings to join the ranks – Mr. Dexter Brown, US Army, and my sister Mrs. Audria (Brown) Dunn.
My husband and I are proud parents that can say we have children who have also served: Mrs. Maria Holiday-Chenelo, LT. US Air Force and Captain Frank Holiday, Jr. US Army. Yes! We PROUD to be an American to serve for all people in the United States of America.
To all who are Veterans in the USA and around the world: Thank YOU for your many sacrifices where you are putting your lives in danger to keep our country free. To every wife, husband, son, daughter, mother, and father, you have made also many sacrifices yourself. So many times you are forgotten. The city also thanks you for your love and understanding when your loved one is not at home with you!
Remember the place to be this week is downtown at Henderson City Hall where we observe Veterans Day at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. The Marine Corps celebrated its 246th birthday Nov. 10. Semper Fidelis- (Always Faithful)
The Annual Henderson Hee Haw Hootenanny will be Friday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 13. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Williams Auditorium, located at 634 East Main Street, Henderson, TN 38340. There will be plenty of laughter and jokes, and we will have a good time! To purchase a ticket, you can go on line at WilliamsAuditorium.com or call 731-435-3150. Hope to see you there.
Shout out to a very special lady that lives in Henderson; she is one of the friendliest, caring, loving, kindest people ever. This young lady will do anything she can for you, even if it means going out of her way! I do not believe the word “no” is in her vocabulary! On top of everything she does, she works fulltime, works at the church, helps take care of her grandfather, and has a two year old son that is also demanding! I do not know how she does it! Yes, I do! With the help of the Lord! She celebrated her birthday on 11/7. The City would like to say, “Happy Belated Birthday,” to Ms. Amie Croom! We know you had a wonderful day, and we pray the Lord will bless you with many more!
On the prayer list this week: All of the bereaved families that have lost a love one. Remember to pray for our United States of America. Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me gloria__holiday@msn.com. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
