Hello to everyone! For this is the day the Lord has made, I/we will rejoice and be glad in it! I am so glad to be back with you; it is a blessing to be alive! To me, this means the Lord I serve is not through with me yet, and I have more work to do! Praise His Holy Name! You know I think about all of the people that do not have the basic things in life. You know we are blessed! We may not have a lot, but we have more than some people do.
Thirty-nine years ago, my husband and I were living in the state of South Carolina. On Sept. 16, the Lord blessed up with our son, Frank Holiday, Jr. He was a still born baby, but the Lord gave him back to us. You see his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and when he was born, he was not breathing. The doctors were working on him, trying to make him breath. My husband and I started praying for life in our son. Like I said, the Lord gave him back to us! It was a Miracle from God! He has seen most parts the world, and he is married with a little person that looks like him! He is a Captain in the US Army and stationed in Georgia, so when he reads our small town paper in Georgia, he will know that the City of Henderson wants to wish him a Happy Birthday on Sept. 16 and to say thank you for serving our Country.
Fall is in the air; we just need to let summer know. Sept. 22 will officially be the first day of fall. It is great to see the fall decorations have begun; the pumpkins, scarecrows, bales of straw, the corn stalks, and the mums are so beautiful this year. This is the time of the year I love to drive around to see your decorations, and one thing about the beautiful fall decorations is that you can use them in September, October and November.
Did you know Sept. 11 was Grandparents Day? In 1978, the United States Congress passed legislation proclaiming the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day. President Jimmy Carter signed the proclamation that began the observation. If you did not do anything special for your grandparent, it is never too late to let them know how much you love them. For most of us, we are the grandparents, so to all of the grandparents out there, the City wishes you a Happy Belated Grandparent Day!
On the Birthday list: Happy Birthday to my son Captain Frank M. Holiday, Jr., 9/16; my sister Sylvia Flowers, 9/19; Linda Curry, 9/25; Janet Beaver, 9/27; and Angenal Huddleston, 9/28. May the Lord keep on blessing all of you with many more!
On the prayer list: Mr. Bill Overway is in the hospital. Please keep Mrs. Overway in your prayers as well. Pray for Mrs. Ethel Croom, our schools, children and the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
Before I go, just want to leave this with you. God hears our prayers; He knows the desires of our hearts. He understands our deepest longings. We will not be overlooked or forgotten.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
