Greetings from Hickory Corner!
I enjoyed our beautiful Monday. My lab Ruger and I went on a walk, and I tried not to think about the cold weather that will be coming our way soon.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good food, family and plenty of blessings. I was thankful to spend the day with some of my family. My daughter Cindy and her husband Tim and my son Terry and his wife Jo were here visiting last week. Our Thanksgiving table was filled with all our favorite food. As most people seem to do on Thanksgiving, we over-ate. I had plenty of leftovers for several days. We did send meals to our neighbors William and Eddy Luttrell. Keep them in your prayers.
JoAnn Clayton enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch with her son Stacy and family and Thanksgiving dinner with her daughter Kim and family. I know they had lots of good food, too.
“Having somewhere to go is home; having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.”- unknown
Why have birds stopped coming to the backyard feeders? My feeders are full, but I have not seen any birds for weeks, and I miss watching them. Maybe they are visiting family and will return soon!
Happy birthday wishes go out to all celebrating birthdays in December including Dianne Clayton (Dec. 7), Zach Garner (Dec. 22) and Donnie Patterson (Dec. 28). A special shout out to Donnie and Nancy Patterson’s granddaughter, Faithlynn, who will celebrate her ninth birthday on Dec. 24. I will celebrate my birthday on Dec. 12. Happy Anniversary wishes go out to Mark and Tonya Clayton on Dec. 30. If you would like your birthday or anniversary listed, please call me.
As my daughter headed back to Illinois very early Saturday morning, she drove through town to grab her an apple fritter from the donut shop (she says they are her favorite)! She told me that downtown Henderson at dark was beautiful with all the Christmas lights and decorations throughout town on Main Street, especially at the courthouse. She said it reminded her of the towns in Hallmark movies (also her favorite). Hopefully, I will get out to see the lights myself. Thank you to all those who have a part in making our town festive.
Do not forget that our HCC Christmas party will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 10. A potluck meal will be served at noon. The Center will furnish the ham and asks that you bring your favorite dish and/or dessert. There will be a drawing for Mr. and Mrs. Santa, Rudolph and Elves. Everyone likes to play bingo, so bring some bingo gifts. If you would like to participate in the Christmas gift exchange, then ladies should bring a five dollar gift for a lady, and men should bring a gift for a man. Do not miss out on good food, fellowship and fun. It is a great way to start off the Christmas season. We have new families that have moved into our community. To those new to our community please know you are invited to come join us.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for a special event or for your Christmas party, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
