Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Monday was a beautiful day with sunny skies. It was 72 degrees and finally feels like nice weather is here to stay.
Easter Sunday’s weather was a perfect day for an Easter egg hunt. JoAnn Clayton hosted an Easter egg hunt at her home on Sunday afternoon. Around 65 family members attended. The little ones enjoyed the blow up bouncy house with slide and were excited hunting easter eggs and putting them in their baskets. Thanks, JoAnn, for inviting me over. It was egg-citing watching the children having fun.
I visited with my sister-in-law Ellna Patterson Roland. She has been busy making flower arrangements for the graves for Decoration Day. Bless her.
Most know the saying, “April showers bring May Flowers.” This can relate not only to flowers but to life. Even through rough times, good can come. Here is a poem by Helen Steiner Rice.
“Help Us to See and Understand” – “God give us wider vision to see and understand/that both the sun and showers are gifts from thy great hand/and when our lives are overcast with trouble and care/give us faith to see beyond the dark clouds of despair/and give us strength to rise above the mist of doubt and fear/and recognize the hidden smile behind each burning tear/and teach us that it takes the showers to make the flowers grow/and only in the storms of life when the winds of trouble blow/can man too reach maturity and grow in faith and grace/and gain the strength and courage to enable him to face/sunny days as well as rain, high peaks as well as low/ knowing that the April showers will make the flowers grow/and then at last may we accept the ‘sunshine’ and the ‘showers’/confident that it takes them both to make salvation ours.”
