Greetings from Hickory Corner.
We had a good turnout Saturday evening for our St. Patrick’s Day gathering. Sarah Holmes and I had the center looking festive with decorations. There was plenty of good food, and Sarah Holmes made a very tasty green sherbet punch. A lot of fun took place with bingo and Phillip Cranford’s trivia questions. Many were decked out in green attire. Best St. Patrick’s Day outfit went to Judy Cranford and Sarah Holmes. Drawings were held, and the following were honored: Mr. St. Patrick – Earl Clayton, Mrs. St. Patrick – Nancy Patterson and Leprechauns – Lonnie Morton and Loren Haykins. Wanda Cook won the guessing game of how many gold coins were in the jar. There were 137 gold coins, and she guessed 140. She had the “luck of the Irish,” as she found some green hidden in with the gold coins!
Kyle and Kayla Patterson of James Patterson Lane announce the birth of their son, Sutton Strong Patterson, born Feb 19. His big sister Faith Lynn welcomed him home. Grandparents are Eddie and Linda Strong and Steve and Kris Blackstock. Great-grandparents are Donnie and Nancy Patterson. Congratulations to the family!
My son, Greg, from Illinois recently spent a week with me. I sure enjoyed his visit. He stayed busy while he was here, and I got some chores crossed off my list. We also did some visiting, eating out, and even a little shopping.
I recently enjoyed a nice visit from my niece Stephanie Patterson Dodd from Southaven, Miss. She is such a sweetheart. She took me to Bell’s for lunch, and it was great catching up with her. We also visited her Aunt Elvie Lee Sanders. Stephanie is a new grandma with the arrival of her grandson, Carter James, in February, and I could tell she was thrilled. Congratulations to all. Stephanie is the daughter of the late Ray and Mary Jo Patterson. Her dad was born and raised in Hickory Corner.
Remember in prayer those on our prayer list: Elvie Lee Sanders, Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Sue Greene, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard, William Maness, Buck Burkhead and all the caregivers.
Our country is experiencing life in ways we never imagined due to the Coronavirus. Pray for God’s healing and comfort to those who are ill and pray for God’s protection over our leaders, the medical providers, our families, communities and our nation. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” – (Psalm 46)
If you would like to rent the HCC center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159. Please call me at 989-3315 with any tidbits and/or news you would like to share. I am still looking to create a new birthday/anniversary list since mine has gone missing, so give me a call with your information.
