Greetings from Hickory Corner.
The Hickory Corner monthly meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 26, has been cancelled. It is important to stay home and be safe. People need to be careful and not get out unless absolutely necessary. I do miss getting out and visiting, but I am staying home. On nice days I walk with my dogs Buddy and Ruger. I have always said that our world can be a scary place, and certainly we can say that with the coronavirus spreading all over the world. If you think you have the virus, use good judgment and call your doctor first. It is important to practice “social distancing,” so please do your part and stay apart.
This is my second week of staying home. It is hard, as I love to get out and be around people. I do call on my neighbors to check on them. Since I can not visit in person, then I visit by phone. I am thankful for all who have called to see if there is anything I need. I have had several offers to pick up groceries or anything else I may need. I am thankful to all of you. Hearts go out to my niece Dianne Connor and her husband Lynn who would not take no for an answer. Dianne sent Lynn to the grocery store with a list, and bless his heart; he got everything on the list and even more. He delivered it to my porch, and we had a short chat at a safe distance apart. God is good, and I am blessed.
Our community sends sympathy to the family of Sue Holder Greene, 81, who passed away March 21 at Henderson Healthcare. She is the widow of the late Raymond Greene (my brother). Family graveside services were held Tuesday at New Friendship Cemetery. I have many wonderful memories of Sue. Our community sends sympathy to all others who have lost loved ones.
Superstar Kenny Rogers has died. Some of my favorite songs of his are “Lucille,” “Gambler” and “Islands in the Stream” with Dolly Parton. He was successful on both the country and pop charts. He wrote an autobiography in 2013 called Luck or Something Like It, which I bet is a good read.
Remember in prayer those on our prayer list: Elvie Lee Sanders, Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard, William Maness, Buck Burkhead and all the caregivers.
Also continue to pray for leaders of all nations, first responders, healthcare providers, and all those who are sick.
If you would like to rent the HCC center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
Please call me at 989-3315 with any tidbits and/or news you would like to share.
Stay safe this week
