Greetings from Hickory Corner!
It is finally time to kick 2020 to the curb. I have to say this year has turned our lives upside down, and I am ready to see the year end. Hello to 2021, a new year filled with promise. Although it will start off pretty much the way we end 2020, there is hope that the vaccine will help bring our country back to some normalcy this year, and we will see COVID cases decline. I pray that God will heal our country. God gives us peace even in difficult times.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (St. John 14:27 KJV).
On a brighter note, our December weather has been beautiful, and I’m not ready to give it up. Thankfully, it looks like the next few weeks will bring temperatures in the 50s. That is much better than freezing temperatures.
Many thanks to Patricia Jones for surprising me with my Christmas Eve meal and Kim Hearn for providing me with my Christmas dinner! Ladies, the food was delicious and your thoughtfulness is a blessing.
Happy Birthday wishes to my daughter-in-law, Janice (12/30) and my son, Greg (12/31). Wishing you both a great day! Happy Anniversary wishes to Mark and Tonya Clayton (12/30). Wishing you many more years to come! If I missed posting your birthday or anniversary this year, please call me with your special date, and I will put it in my book for 2021.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T. Roland, Peggy Lard and William and Eddie Luttrell.
A special get well goes out to my great-granddaughter, Lainey Patterson, who lives in Illinois. Please continue to pray for those who are dealing with COVID and other sicknesses. Our community extends sympathy to the family of Logan Thomas Clayton. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
If you would like to rent the HCC center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
As always, I need your help in writing this column. Please make my life easier and call me at 989-3315 with any news or tidbits. I need to hear from you. No news is too small to share.
Think positive! Remember “A cheerful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22 ESV)
Happy New Year to All!
