Wow, it was 70 degrees on Monday! God blessed us with another beautiful day. We have enjoyed some nice weather so far this year. Can you believe this is the last week of January?
Remembering Mancel Kirk of Finger, (4/17/1924 – 1/14/2021). James and I were blessed to know Mancel. We got to know him through the many fun senior citizen trips we all went on. Mancel was a World War II Veteran who faithfully attended the annual Veteran’s Day Celebration at Mt. Gilead Church. He always wore his Army jacket that fit perfectly and was a little worn, but you knew he wore it proudly, and it held many memories for Mancel. The last time I saw Mancel was at the 2019 Veteran’s Day Celebration. Sending sympathy to Mancel’s family and friends.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T. Roland, Peggy Lard and William and Eddie Luttrell. Please continue to pray for those who are dealing with Covid and other sicknesses. Let us always remember our brave veterans who have served our country and fought so hard for the freedom we enjoy today. Many made the ultimate sacrifice. Pray for our troops who are serving our country today. God bless America.

I was 11 years old when my daddy started farming. That was a time when I was always hoping for something. Hoping it would rain so I would not have to pick cotton or work in the fields, hoping I could go to town, hoping I could go to a movie, hoping for a hamburger at the trolley car, hoping to go to my grandma and grandpa’s, hoping mama would make us a cake. I remember asking mama, “Do you think daddy will take us to town Saturday to watch a movie?” And mama would say, “Well, I hope so.” So, what exactly is “hope”? Hope is usually used to mean a wish. In the bible, hope is the expectation of what God has promised. Barrack Obama wrote in his book, “Hope is the faith of difficulty, Hope is the faith of uncertainty. The audacity of hope! In the end that is God’s greatest gift to us…A belief in things not seen. A belief that there are better days ahead.” What does hope mean to you?
