Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Terry and Jo were here last week visiting from Illinois. I always love having my kids visit. Terry was as busy as a bee as always, bush hogging, cutting grass and doing other chores. Jo and I got out and about and did a little shopping. I am back to being very careful and staying away from crowds since COVID is making its way back into Chester County. Numbers in hospitals continue to rise.
Terry and Jo stopped at the Farmer’s Market and brought me some fresh purple hull peas and a tasty huge cantaloupe. There is nothing better than home grown. Made me miss my garden days….not the hard work that goes into gardening but the taste of freshly picked vegetables. They also brought some fresh Illinois tomatoes from their garden.
I heard that folks had a good time at the ice cream social at the HCC center this last Saturday. Ice Cream and bingo sounds like a good time to me.
I enjoyed a phone call from my cousin, June Cherry Smith, who now lives in Dyersburg at Canterbury Place. June’s mother Callie Cherry Mount and my mother Jewel Cherry Greene were sisters. June is a retired teacher from Chester County school district. She asked me to give a birthday shout out to her daughter, Anita Smith Hart of Dyersburg, who will celebrate her birthday on Aug. 18. So, Anita, here is wishing you a very happy birthday!
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Please continue to pray for all those who are dealing with sickness and those who have lost loved ones. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
Do you ever feel anxious or worried about something going on in your life? If so, this comforting prayer is for you: “Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either he will shield you from suffering or he will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imagination.” – St Francis de Sales
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
