Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Monday was a beautiful day. I took advantage of the nice day and spent it outside cleaning out my flower garden. What was once beautiful flowers are now gone, and my garden statues are now tucked away for the winter. The empty garden is a reminder of our cold days to come. Oh, and I do not like this time change. It was dark by 5:30 p.m.
The Hee Haw Hootenanny is this Friday and Saturday evening at Williams Auditorium. The Good Time Band will begin at 6:30 p.m. and show at 7 p.m. Get your tickets and spend the evening listening to live music and watching locals entertain you. Music and laughter is always good for the soul.
November birthdays: Happy belated birthday to Judy Cranford (11/1). Hope your day was a great one, Judy! Happy birthday to Alfred Garner (11/21), Cindy Melton (11/22) and Dennis Clayton (11/24). Here is to wishing you all a special day filled with many blessings. The November birthstone is topaz and citrine, both yellowish in color. The November flower is chrysanthemum, better known as a mum.
The Veterans Day Service is begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at City Hall. It is so beautiful to see the field of flags flying on the courthouse lawn. I had to pull over and park as I thought of our soldiers all over the world protecting our country and for all those who have previously served our great nation, many giving the ultimate sacrifice. Veterans Day is a time to show our respect and honor all those who have served in the military. Veterans have left their families, friends and way of life to make us safe and protect our freedom. If you personally know a veteran, I ask that you reach out to them this week and thank them for their service. If you see someone you do not know that is a veteran, still stop and thank them. God Bless America.
Also, remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Please continue to pray for all those who are dealing with sickness. Sympathy and prayers for those who have recently lost loved ones. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
Folks, this is your column. Please call me at 989-3315 with tidbits, birthdays anniversaries, vacations or anything you would like to share with us. I really need to hear from our community.
Make it a great week.
