There will be meeting at the HCC center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27. If you live in the community and would like to attend our meetings you are welcome to come and learn more about our center. We welcome new members.
According to Fox News, Facebook reports that in honor of Betty White’s 100th birthday a total of 12.7 million dollars were donated from all over the United States to benefit animal shelters and rescues. The fundraiser was to honor Betty White’s love of animals. It is not too late to make a donation for our pets in Chester County. I mailed mine today to Loving Paws Rescue, 2035 Brown Cemetery Rd. Luray, TN 38352. Carol Preuss is currently taking care of 27 puppies. If you can donate, please do. No matter how small, it will make a difference.
I enjoyed a phone call from community writer Vickie Ellis, (New Friendship writer). She knew some of my bowling friends. Such a sweet lady. We enjoyed chatting and getting to know each other.
Happy Anniversary to Chuck and Ruth Ann Lane who celebrated their anniversary on Jan. 21.
The community extends sympathy to the family and friends of Hulon Patterson. Hulon grew up in the Hickory Corner Community and kin folk were the Maness, Morrisson and Patterson families. I remember in 2017 when Hulon stopped by and visited James and I. He and James rode four wheelers over to “Happy Hollow” where Hulon and his family used to live as a young boy. Unfortunately, it was all grown up with trees, bushes and undergrowth, and he was not able to find the exact place where his home stood. Hulon did find the spring which he remembered going to growing up. I had lunch ready when they returned to the house, and I remember Hulon and James chatting about the good old days growing up. It was a good day filled with a lot of memories for James and Hulon. Sometime later, Hulon returned and came in off Masseyville Road and found evidence where the house and barn stood. He said he stood there and reminisced about his family and where the home, garden and barn were located. Precious memories. Hulon will be missed.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Please continue to pray for all those who are dealing with sickness, our country and each other. Also, pray for those who have recently lost loved ones.
